This series of aluminum cover plate selections is designed for areas where flooring material such as carpet, ceramic tiles and VCT are used. The cover plate bridges the joint gap with minimal preparation.

All of the EMS cover plate selections are compliant with the standards of ADA.

The ALFSSC series is made from 6061-T5 or 6063-T6 aluminum alloy that is secured on one side of the floor by pre-drilled countersunk holes anchored into the concrete. The anchors are set into a bed of epoxy adhesive to assure a sound anchor.

The ALFSSC Series allows design professionals to integrate floor, wall and ceiling joints into a complete and aesthetically pleasing system. Excellent for both new and retrofit projects, our ALFSSC Series is a system for any pedestrian area where appearance is important. This system remains flush during all phases of thermal movement. Recommended areas of usage include corridors in hospitals, hotels, assisted living facilities, and office buildings.

Features and Benefits

• Ease of Installation – The layout of the anchor holes along the edge of the plate is a simple process. String line a straight edge parallel to the joint opening. Align the plate holes over the center of the string line and match drill for the anchors. Remove the plate. Clean out all the dust and debris; place plate into position and install anchors.

• Designed For Top Mount or Recessed – Either application may be accommodated. Top mount plate covers the expansion joint opening; each side has the required ADA slope for the thickness plate used.
  The recessed plate application has one side beveled; the other or fixed side of the plate is cut square to minimize the space at the butted connection.

• Tested To ASTM D-1399 – The design was tested in compression, tension and deflection for 500 cycles. No loss of anchors was noted.

• Seal Meets ADA Dictates – The ALFSSC-Series profiles are engineered to meet ADA standards for pedestrian concerns.

Physical Properties

The flexible water shield is made from an EPDM material meeting ASTM C864, with a 1700-psi tensile, 65A durometer hardness and 225% elongation.

The aluminum cover plate is made of ASTM 6061-T5 or 6063-T6 grade material.
